42nd Street Photo: Summertime Tips
As June approaches, we are in summer for sure. The bright sun, great food and wonderful memories are just some of the things we all love about this time of year. Making family memories is a large part of summer and you do not want to miss out on capturing them with your camera. If you need a camera, check out what we have available at 42nd Street Photo. Here are some great tips to capturing your most cherished times throughout this summer:
- Many cameras have a setting available on the white balance that is called ‘cloudy’. By choosing this setting on the bright sunny days, you can avoid the blue tint that the sun tends to leave in your pictures. Check your manual if you are not sure how to change or access this setting because every camera is different.
- When photographing objects, be sure to be aware of the light. Obviously it is the sun but you need to pay attention to what side the sun is on, how the shadows lie on the subjects, and if the sun is too much for your human subject’s eyes. By adjusting your settings on your camera, you can avoid harshness the sun can cause and odd shadowing. You can change the direction the people face in your photos to avoid the squinty eye look!
- Before you go out and aimlessly shoot nature photos, get some inspiration. Check out other photos that have been done as well as magazines and more. Get ideas of what you would like to achieve and make a list. There may be some things you do not see in other photos but you know you would like to get some shots of it- write it down and go get ‘em!
Don’t be shy- for most of us, summer comes and goes too quickly so get out and take advantage. Go to the pool, on a walk, to the park- anywhere that memories can be captured! Do not forget to have fun! Happy people make the best subjects in photos!
